Position: Field Support Technician
Duties: Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical systems and control panels. Terminate wires and connect components such as circuit breakers and transformers. Calibrate and test electromechanical and microprocessor-based relays. Read and interpret electrical diagrams accurately. Perform work at heights or in confined spaces as needed. Use hand and power tools proficiently and safely. Complete work orders, document findings, and meet productivity standards. Follow and promote strict safety protocols. Maintain or improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, or systems for commercial and industrial purposes.
Provide testing services to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements. Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Requirements: Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology, or foreign quivalent. Thirty-six (36) months of experience as an Electrical or electronic engineering technologist, electrical or electronic engineering technician, or similar occupation. Must have obtained Infrared thermography (Level III certified) for electrical equipment diagnostics. Requires prior experience in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems across commercial and industrial sites, using electrical test instruments including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation resistance testers to diagnose and verify system performance. Testing electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, protective relays, and circuit breakers to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety
standards, reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to guide system installation and maintenance, applying NETA, IEEE, NFPA, and OSHA electrical standards to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Working with power distribution systems including low, medium, and high-voltage equipment, and testing and maintaining high-voltage substations including equipment operating at 69 kV to 230 kV.
